Student and Young Investigator Travel Scholarships
IMC17 /IFSM and Brazilian Society for Microscopy and Microanalysis (SBMM)
are pleased to offer scholarships for selected students and young investigators from different countries to participate in the congress and to have the privilege to attend the pre-congress IFSEM advanced school.
Four types of competitive Scholarships are available to facilitate attendance at the IMC17 by meritorious applicants:
- Scholarships for young scientists from non-Latin American countries (50 scholarships up to US$ 1,000 each).
- Scholarships for young scientists from Latin American countries (25 scholarships up to US$ 500 each).
- Scholarships for young scientists from African countries (10 scholarships up to US$ 1,000 each).
- Scholarships for Brazilian resident young scientists (50 scholarships up to US$ 200 each).
Scholarship award consists of: complimentary registration, hotel accommodations reserved by the IMC17, complimentary access to the welcome reception and congress banquet and a stipend as above.
Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration for a Scholarship, applicant must:
- Be a doctoral student or graduated within 3 years of the award of doctorate on September 15, 2010.
- Submit an abstract for the IMC17 as a presenting author by closing date for abstracts.
- Not be working or studying in Brazil at the time of application (for non-Brazilian attendees).
- Submit a complete application package on-time.
Application
All applicants must fill out the IMC17 common scholarship application form and complete the application requirements for the IMC17 Scholarship for which they are applying. Scholarship applications must be submitted online no later than April 15, 2010. Applicants will be notified of a decision by June 5, 2010.

Scholarship selections
Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the IFSM and IMC17 Committees. Awards will be given to the winners at the closure of the IFSEM Advanced School in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, September 19th. Awardees must arrive in Rio de Janeiro one day before to fully attend the Advanced School.

Scholarship award is the necessary condition to be entitled to attend the IFSEM Advanced School.
